Summer Camp 2016

What a superb Summer Camp Mr Fairclough devised for the children this year.

They all benefited from participating in the many varied and exciting sporting opportunities and structured activities on offer.

The attendance of many fantastic guest coaches for individual sports in which they participate can only have helped to inspire everyone.

The basic structure of the week was as follows:

“Team Games” and “Team Matches” were daily competitive matches where points were up for grabs for each team. The teams were the same throughout the whole week and both teams battled it out each day hoping to be the medal winners at the end of the week.

“Technical Learning/Training”, for over an hour each morning, was a session to learn and practice the skills, techniques and tactics to prepare the teams for the afternoon's competitive match.

Our thanks go to the afternoon Guest Coaches:

Hockey on Monday coached by Helen Jelley

Helen is an ex Wales international Hockey player who currently plays for Beeston Ladies first team.

Archery on Tuesday coached by Amy Curnock

Amy works for Archey GB as a development coordinator and coaches archery to all ages. She has also shot for the Midlands.

Gymnastics on Wednesday coached by Sarah Adams

Sarah has just began running her own gymnastics school in Leicester. She has previously ranked inside the top 20 100m women sprinters in the UK and represented Team GB in the 2014 Sochi winter Olympics at bobsleigh.

Basketball on Thursday coached by Levi Noel

Levi is currently a professional basketball player for Leicester Riders, the British Basketball League 2015/2016 champions and Trophy winners. He also coaches basketball at Charnwood college.

Finally, it was fun on Friday - the exciting week culminated with the parents vs. children in a rounders match, followed by The Certificate and Medal ceremony.
