Circusology Workshop

On Wednesday 18th May 2016, my school went to Colston Bassett Village Hall to watch an amazing man doing circus things. The first time we arrived at the village hall, he made an introduction and showed us some things that you use at the circus. He showed us some unicycles and he was juggling. When he was on the unicycle, it looked like he was literally going to slam into us - however, with his serious skill, he turned around as fast as a lightning bolt. I was very eager to learn.

When the introduction had finished, we went back to school and then it was Key Stage 1’s turn to go. When they came rushing back with excitement, I started to get very excited.

It was now J1 and J2’s turn to go back down to the village hall. When we met Alex, who was the man who ran the company, he showed us how to juggle with scarves. I found it fairly hard at the start, but eventually it became really easy. After that we tried to do the diablo and it was the same story as last time because I gradually got better.

Finally, we could do whatever we wanted and overall it was extremely fun!

By James (Year 6)

On Wednesday 18th May we had Circusology come to our school. We went to the village hall because it was raining. When we had all sat down, Alex went on the unicycle and tried to run into people. He was funny and made me laugh.

Then the older group went back to school and our group stayed. We had a go at juggling with scarves. Then we did all sorts of things like flower sticks, stilts and balancing a peacock feather. I was quite good at balancing the peacock feather on my hand. I went on a peddle thing on wheels which Alex called a “Falling-on-your-bum-thingy”. That was my favourite thing and I didn’t fall on my bum!

At the end Alex went on the really big unicycle which he also balanced on his chin. I would like to be able to do that one day. Then we went back to school and the other group went down.

I really enjoyed it!
